Second edition of this virtual cycle where La Porta commissions 6 scenic artists to create an original piece for the net.

SUPERNATURAL is an open field of action that offers a fresh approach and opens up new perspectives on the work currently being carried out by the selected artists. This unusual creative source within our programming offers new ways of carrying out, talking and fictionalising about the performing arts milieu, video recording, and the private and public realms.
The name Supernatural aims to say something about the gap between artist and public created by the camera, of the fiction of recording, and of what is recorded as perverted naturalness, within frameworks such as video creation, reportage and documentary.

The context
Digital technology has strongly modified the contemporary creative scene in all its fields, and the performing arts are no exception to this. Besides opening other research fields, other formats, other mental and sensible spaces; the virtual space proposes more open and participative ways of relating with the artistic object.

The potential of the Net as platform for the circulation, exchange, documentation and study of contents is immense; forcing us to revise concepts such as intellectual property, identity, presence… It’s ability to generate new audiences leads us to question the traditional mechanisms of arts’ circuits, the market and it’s exclusion dynamics; that is, culture’s economy.

Public presentation: 14 December 2008 at 7 pm
Open roundtable which aims to look at the perspectives created at the event organised with the artists over the two days before the presentation. At this event, the artists were invited to look back at the process they had been through and use their different paths and solutions to see what effect this initiative had had on each of them individually and as a whole, looking at questions such as: What leads us to produce a series of works to be exhibited online? And, more specifically, what leads us to commission performing artists to produce work specifically designed for the internet? What direction do these works then take in relation to this idea?
